I only fly air Jamaica, never been on another airline, the only issues I have is late flights, but wow, I’m hearing some bad things lately, I heard one of their planes was ceased from them after it landed in Florida, and Im also hearing that by the end of next year, there might not even be an air Jamaica

Thats sad – I have never flown on Air Jamaica but I looked forward to it. After all the great reviews it sounds like due to money and competition that they might be going the way of many other air carriers. I still cant belive the bag charges we have to put up with now.

That’s just it though. I’ve always flied Air Jamaica no matter what…
Eventually it’s going to get to a point where, despite our patriotism, we’ll be forced to alternatives.

FYI… Air Jamaica charters North American planes as a result of airplane shortage. They don’t have a plane to carry all the people because their A340 (high caapacity) is out of service

Carry on is right, with no end in sight. Such behaviour has taken on a life of its own and become almost ritual, because we have and continue to pay attention and bestow more favour on the badly behaved.

Nice as I am, you will not get me helping any feisty smaddy to put up their overloaded bags in the overhead bins. If you can pack it, you should be able to haul an’ pull it yuhself. I will let them embarass themselves, and they not getting a smiling “I feel you, I know what you mean, hush yuh soon reach” nod or recognition from me. No, I am not moving so yuh can stretch out your legs; so wha’ happen to fi mi foot dem? No, I am not giving up all the armrests so you can spread out like you own di plane. Mek dem come trace me, no problem.

I can afford first class sometimes, but I still don’t pay the money, why? Exit seats are just as good but less money. And frankly, I find the men in coach to be less obnoxious and slimy.

This post was a general commentary on some observations I made during my time flying with these changes. My personal views has not really shown up here because, quite frankly, as long as I am safe from real issues, I am good 2 go.
I still had to point this out due to the fact that it never gets old in my mind to hear how we Jamaicans can carry on in public.
The sentiments about trying to impress others by flying first class is certainly something that I identify with because no matter what I do, I am first class in the eyes of God and the eyes of those who love me most. I just had to put that out there. So at the end of the day, I don’t take myself so seriously to the point where I can’t enjoy a moment of jest…although…that kind of attitude of feeling better than has no place in my fabric/make-up.

if I could afford first class, I wouldn’t buy it to impress other people but so that I could get an armrest and room for my pawpaw tree legs

Point taken…But, eventually when you start paying more and more for less and less maybe there will a threshold that you will cross that will annoy you like it did to me on this trip.

hush — At least you reach and had a good time, no? The flight could have been cancelled while you were en route from new jersey, or nobody did bother to tell you that NAA was planning to make pit stops all along the east coast. As for your comment about the problem of not having seating by “class.” That’s only a problem if we have trouble locating ourselves otherwise. We are way too hung up on validating stupid hierarchies and the accompanying status symbols; good for those “first classers” to sit with regular folks for once; as if they don’t take southwest, ted and american when dem deh a farrin. Somehow I don’t feel sorry for those who spent to impress; they could have saved that money and donated it to any number of organisations here that need the money.

why don’t you try them next time since you had to go all the way to JFK anyway?
